DEAL AGREED AND SEALED: Texans Add Elite Edge Rusher to bolster their pass rush in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft

The Houston Texans gave up their own first-round pick in 2024 when they moved up to take Will Anderson third overall last season, but because to the Deshaun Watson trade with the Cleveland Browns two years earlier, they will still pick first.

The Texans will have the No. 23 overall pick in this year’s draft instead of Cleveland, and CBS Sports predicted on Sunday that Houston will take Penn State Nittany Lions edge rusher Chop Robinson at that spot.
You can read an extract from the article below, which looks at specific projections now that the Super Bowl matchup is decided.

Chop Robinson

“San Francisco’s pass rush hit opponents in waves. DeMeco Ryans was used to having such depth and versatility at his disposal. He now has his own version in Houston, featuring Jon Greenard, Will Anderson Jr., and now Robinson.”

Robinson chose to sit out the 2023 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl game against the Ole Miss Rebels in order to prepare for the next draft. This season, he produced 12 solo tackles and three sacks for the Nittany Lions, who won 10 games.
Robinson attended Quince Orchard High School in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and played for the Maryland Terrapins before transferring to Penn State.

DeMeco Ryans , Texans one win from reaching postseason goal

Robinson may compliment others on the Texans’ front seven, and it would be the second straight season that Houston has prioritized the defensive end position, after selecting Will Anderson with the first choice in last year’s draft.

Anderson totaled seven sacks in his debut season, trailing only Greenard with 12.5.

If the Texans choose Robinson, they will have three legitimate pass rush threats under 30 years old to wreak havoc on opposition backfields.
