Sean Dyche is the best manager to guide Everton through their problem, so it would be “foolish” to fire him, claims Chris Sutton.
The analyst, who spoke on the It’s All Kicking Off Podcast on September 21 and was unwavering in his defence of the Toffees’ manager, made it abundantly obvious that Everton would struggle this year no matter what.
Sutton praised the acquisition of Beto and asserted that thus far, Dyche’s play has met Everton supporters’ expectations for the season.
What were Everton supporters’ hopes for the new campaign, asked Sutton? I believe the majority of Everton supporters were aware that they would face another relegation fight.
“They didn’t spend a lot of money. Although Beto was a good addition, they were always going to have trouble. Nobody who supports Everton, in my opinion, anticipated playing in Europe.
“Everton is building slowly. It would be foolish for them to think about sacking Sean Dyche. He is the right man for this environment which Everton are in.”
Underwhelming Expectations
Many have questioned whether Dyche is still the best candidate for the position at Goodison Park after a disappointing start to the season.
In the first five games, a winless start has yielded just one point, a spirited draw against Sheffield United. It is well known that the majority of the squad does not meet Premier League standards, though. The patients who are either recently arrived or are unable to leave the doctor’s office quickly.
Even if the club wanted to, a report in the Daily Mail on September 21 indicates that the Toffees might not have the money to allow the former Burnley manager go because a £4 million dismissal clause seems like a prohibitive expense.
However, Dyche has experience managing teams in relegation battles, and very few managers on the market could pull off what he has so far this season.
Dyche is the greatest thing Toffees supporters can hope for right now, barring the possibility that Pep Guardiola loses his job in the upcoming weeks.
For the near future, Dyche is expected to bring his gruff voice and direct demeanour to Finch Farm while the takeover continues to progress slowly, if at all.
