BREAKING NEWS: We will learn a lot about this Auburn basketball team against Ole Miss

On Saturday, Auburn will travel to Oxford to play the Ole Miss Rebels.

A few weeks ago in Neville, the Tigers easily defeated Ole Miss 82-59, with Johni Broome leading the way in scoring with 13 points. Auburn will now have to play this Ole Miss squad in front of a sell-out crowd on their home field. At their two SEC road games, the Tigers fell short against Alabama and Mississippi State at Starkville, respectively.

Three of Auburn’s four losses have occurred in actual road games, as the team has lost all four away from Neville Arena. The NCAA Tournament requires road games; therefore, this team will need to improve their ability to compete when the Jungle isn’t there to provide support. Ole Miss will want this one badly since they are desperate for a victory at home. We will find out in this game whether Auburn can defeat a top team on the road while playing in a difficult atmosphere.

Following the victory over Ole Miss at Neville Arena, Bruce Pearl discussed how his bench scored 40 points. “We’ve been saying all along that when we go to the bench, we don’t drop off,” Pearl continued. “Is it because our bench is that strong, or are our starters not good enough? That was my question. It was even during the summer and fall.”

If Auburn manages to win, it will provide them with more confidence for the remainder of SEC play. However, this game will be a lot closer than the one we saw in Neville Arena.
