JUST IN: The Real Reason Malcolm Brogdon Is Angry With the Celtics

There has been much speculation that Malcolm Brodgon is disgruntled with Boston because they attempted to move him, but one NBA insider believes the veteran guard is upset for another reason.

The 30-year-old had a partial tendon tear in his right elbow at the end of last season, and according to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, the team’s handling of the situation produced some animosity between Brodgon and the C’s.

“I don’t think the bad feelings are over as far as including him in any trade discussions,” Shelburne stated on NBA Today. “He’s an expert. He is aware of what is going on; he understands why such debates are taking place. There is a possibility that those discussions will resume.

Boston Celtics: Malcolm Brogdon is a luxury for this Cs team

“It’s always a little unsettling when your name is out there.” I believe a lot of this is due to what’s going on with his elbow. During the playoffs, he had golfer’s elbow. There was considerable concern that he could need surgery, but he did not. There’s a question about when (and how) he’ll be available; this is what you’ll pay Joe Mazzulla and Brad Stevens a lot of money for. You need to fix some fences around here. He’s a member of the team, and I don’t think those trade conversations will resume anytime soon.”

According to Celtics Insider Chris Forsberg, there hasn’t been much communication between Brogdon and the organization this offseason.

“I think what it comes down to is that there hasn’t been a lot of talk from either side,” Forsberg explained. “We haven’t heard from the Celtics, we haven’t heard from Malcolm Brogdon’s camp, and I think that’s just led to a bit of speculation.”
However, he does not believe this is cause for concern.

Brogdon has yet to join the rest of the C’s roster in Boston for workouts.

“He does his workouts, usually in Atlanta, and then he goes overseas and does a bunch of community stuff; we don’t see a lot of Malcolm Brogdon in the offseason,” Forsberg explained.

“I don’t believe there has been any change — there is nothing new about this.” We’re left wondering if ‘Oh! Is he upset because he’s the last?
