The 6-foot-1, 220-pound Burnette is good friends with Zac Etheridge, the Houston defensive backs coach, who was a member of Auburn’s staff when he played for them. He got along well with Jordy Joseph, the running backs coach, too.

Burnette explained, “It’s just the energy they brought,” to 247Sports.

“Coach Etheridge played a significant role in my decision to commit to Auburn. He’s been around for a while and never fails to provide the vibe. It was everything you could have imagined, and he presents everything with complete honesty.

In the 2024 class, Burnette is Houston’s 16th committed player. Throughout his high school career, he ran for 39 touchdowns and 4,476 yards in 37 games. In addition to scoring three additional receiving touchdowns, he averaged almost seven yards per rush.

Burnette is thrilled with Fritz’s program.

Burnette said, “I see they’re going to run the ball first.” “Coach Fritz is a real guy.” I had a great time during the formal visit. For the most part, that was. He recently exuded a lot of great energy, and he will undoubtedly make the program better. He performed admirably at Tulane and will excel at Houston.

Simply the energy that they emit. They were essentially with me all the time. I was essentially at home away from home because of how they made me feel. I had never experienced a feeling like it before. Throughout the entire process, coaches Fritz, Joseph, and Etheridge made sure I felt comfortable.

Burnette will write something on Wednesday in honour of National Signing Day.

“It’s a stunning city,” Burnette remarked. Lots very friendly individuals in the area. I had a great chance to enter and have fun. It simply seems to fit me the best.
