ESPN NEWS UPDATE: Baker Mayfield Sends Two words Message About His Exit and Return to Brown

Not long ago, the Cleveland Browns believed they had finally found their guy.

Baker Mayfield had been a college football sensation and appeared to be poised to make an impact in the NFL as well.

There was some good and some terrible, and he wasn’t always put in the best position to succeed, but it became more clear that Mayfield wasn’t the guy the team needed to take the next step forward.

Then, the team did him wrong by dealing for Deshaun Watson while he was still on the team, which certainly reduced his trade value.

Now, he’s allegedly set to accept a rich multi-year contract to stay with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the former No. 1 pick recently spoke up about his time in Cleveland.

Speaking with Nick Wright on FS1’s First Things First, the former Oklahoma Sooners standout claimed that he always felt all he needed was a fresh start somewhere else with a team that believed in him.
Obviously, that was a serious shot at the organization, but it was also a fair one.

Mayfield also stated that he does not regret playing through injuries for the Browns because he is a competitor who wants to be there for his teammates, and that everything occurs for a reason.

Baker Mayfield may or may not be a star in this league, but one thing is certain: if Watson is unable to play a full season at an elite level, this deal will plague the team for years to come.
