BREAKING NEWS: MLB Insider reveals the Phillies are trading for an All-Star closer worth $16 million.

The Philadelphia Phillies haven’t done much to make news throughout the winter other than extend standout pitcher Aaron Nola.

Though the Phillies have made deep playoff trips the past two seasons without winning a championship, MLB insider Jon Morosi has projected that the team may make a major move shortly. Boston Red Sox All-Star closer Kenley Jansen is expected to be traded to Philadelphia, according to Morosi.

Phillies

“It’s now a question of which teams could sign Jansen at this time,” Morosi stated in an MLB Network appearance. “The Los Angeles Dodgers are the quickest response and one that many in the industry believe to be fairly viable. However, I would also like to bring up another team that has been rather quiet during the offseason: the Phillies.

In addition to stating that the Phillies are a possible destination because they haven’t made any major roster additions this winter, Morosi emphasized that “the Red Sox are in fact listening to Jansen” and that he may address the team’s most pressing need.

“Of course, the Phillies brought back Nola, but they haven’t really addressed the major reason—their bullpen—that the Arizona Diamondbacks advanced to the World Series last year instead of the Phillies,” Morosi observed. “So, once more, Jansen is available. The Dodgers and Phillies are the two teams to watch there.”
