Last night’s NFL Honours ceremony revealed the 2024 honorees. Hester and Johnson’s induction is well-deserved.

Hester is one of the most dynamic returning players in football history. 19 total touchdowns on punt and kickoff returns! Hester is unquestionably among the best return men in NFL history. NFL.com writer Adam Rank agrees with the following comment on Hester’s Hall of Fame induction.

“There was nothing like the anticipation you had as Devin Hester readied to return a kickoff or punt. And, after a few years of waiting for the ultimate honour, Hester is now — properly — a Pro Football Hall of Famer.”

As a receiver, he has 255 receptions for 3,311 yards, a 13-yard average, and 16 touchdowns. The second Cane travelling to Canton is a pure receiver.

Johnson’s 1,062 receptions, 14,185 yards, 13.4-yard average, and 77 touchdowns rank among the finest receiving statistics in NFL history. He was a dominant, big-bodied receiver who defensive backs struggled with.

Ranks’ statement about Johnson coming to Canton is also accurate.

“I predicted that voters would begin breaking up the logjam of wide receiver hopefuls in my Class of 2024 forecast earlier this week, and they did exactly that: Andre Johnson is in! Some folks were fixated on the fact that the lifelong Texan had never scored double-digit touchdowns in a single season. Not me! Johnson, along with Jerry Rice and Calvin Johnson, is one of just three players who have led the NFL in receiving yards in consecutive years. “He belongs.”

Congratulations to Hester and Johnson on their amazing careers that propelled them to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
