As part of his new deal, Kent Austin, who was elevated from his prior position as an analyst to Auburn’s quarterbacks coach, would get a $150,000 raise, per a copy of the contract that AL.com obtained through a public records request.
He will earn $400,000 this season (2024). The new agreement is valid from January 15, 2027, to January 27, 2027.
Austin received a $250,000 base income under his prior contract, which ended on January 31. It did not include any cash for endorsement rights or a fee for personal appearances. He owes the $150,000 increase from the new deal in endorsements ($75,000) and personal appearance money ($75,000).
If Austin stays at Auburn, his contract could potentially pay him $950,000 for the 2026 season after he receives raises of $200,000 on February 1, 2025, and an additional $350,000 on February 1, 2026.
A 100% guaranteed buyout of the remaining amount payable to him during the contract’s length is included in the agreement.
If Austin decides to leave Auburn, he will be responsible for $375,000 if he leaves before December 20, 2024, $250,000 if he leaves before December 20, 2025, or $125,000 if he leaves before December 20, 2026.
However, per the provisions of the deal, Austin will not owe Auburn anything should he accept a new role as head coach, play-calling coordinator, or any other job in the NFL.
