ESPN NEWS NOW: Browns Could Lose New Coach and Head Coach Stefanski Amid Wild Coaching Carousel

The Cleveland Browns could be the next team impacted by an unusual coaching carousel this offseason. In a short period of time, the following events occurred to create a possibility for tight ends coach Tommy Rees to obtain a head coaching position:

Boston College HC Jeff Hafley accepted the Green Bay Packers DC job
Bill O’Brien, who was hired as the Ohio State University’s offensive coordinator this summer, has accepted the position of head coach at Boston College and UCLA. Chip Kelly has accepted the position to replace O’Brien at Ohio State.

The final link led to the Rees-UCLA rumour, but it was also the most disturbing of all. To put it simply, a Big Ten head coach left his position to become a Big Ten offensive coordinator.

There are many additional details, but currently UCLA is looking for a new head coach.
Then, behind a paywall, Bruin Report stated that the Rees-UCLA connection/rumor had gained traction:
With Rees, as with the rest of the wild coaching carousel, it is already noteworthy that an offensive coordinator for two major college teams accepted a position coach post in the NFL. Given his roles at Alabama and Notre Dame, he would make a better head coach at a major college program.

The Crimson Tide, or Browns in this scenario, saw a new coach leave shortly after taking the job. Ryan Grubb was the Washington Huskies’ offensive coordinator last year before following Kallen DeBoer to Alabama and accepting the OC position with the Seattle Seahawks two weeks later.

For the time being, the rumours remain just that. On the other hand, O’Brien and Kelly’s new jobs were rumours that persisted for a time before becoming true.
