Eddie Howe reveals details why Newcastle United are reluctant on Bruno Guimaraes contract ‘agreement’

EDDIE HOWE has remained tight-lipped about Bruno Guimaraes’ contract situation, as the Brazilian midfielder nears a new agreement with Newcastle United.

The agreement, which has not yet been signed but is claimed to have been “verbally agreed,” will last until 2028 and apparently includes a £100 million release clause.

Bruno, who joined Newcastle from Lyon in January last year, celebrated his goal in the 8-0 win against Sheffield United by kissing the Newcastle United crest on his shirt in front of the away fans.

When asked after the game if he could provide an update on Bruno’s contract issue, Howe responded, “Everything is going on away from me.” I’m just focused on football, so I have no idea.”
Bruno’s exceptional form since joining Newcastle has piqued the interest of other clubs, with Real Madrid and Liverpool both interested in the 25-year-old. Newcastle and Bruno’s representatives have been in talks since the end of last season.

There was some concern on Tyneside in the summer when Bruno expressed “doubt” about agreeing to a new deal, albeit he has always stated his intention to continue at the club.

Bruno was outstanding in Newcastle’s 2-1 victory at Bramall Lane, which moved the Magpies up to seventh in the Premier League table.
