ESPN TRADE UPDATE: The Next Lamar – Commanders have Completed a Blockbuster Trade for Top Best QB

The Lamar Jackson analogy is noteworthy because Daniels threw for 6,725 yards, 57 touchdowns, and only seven interceptions while also rushing for 2,019 yards and 21 touchdowns, making him the epitome of a dual-threat quarterback. Williams appears to be the consensus No. 1 pick, and there have been rumours that the Commanders, who recently hired Kliff Kingsbury as offensive coach, may pursue Williams.

The Washington Commanders had a difficult season by any standard, finishing with a 4-13 record and more questions than answers about the franchise’s long-term prospects. However, with the additions of general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn, the new ownership group led by Josh Harris is beginning to take shape. Now, the focus is on what the Commanders will do with the No. 2 pick, with the consensus being that the franchise will help kickoff this new era with a good quarterback – but which one?

According to CBS Sports’ Ryan Wilson, if Washington trades up, the Commanders will not take the “conventional” decision of Caleb Williams, but will instead select Jayden Daniels, who he believes could be the greatest player in the class. “No player did more for their draft stock in the fall than Jayden Daniels, who went from possible Day 3 pick to first-round prospect,” Wilson writes in his article. “He reminds me of Lamar Jackson, and it’s not crazy to think that, five years from now, we’ll look back and say that Daniels was the best player in this class.”

However, in Daniels, Washington gains a quarterback who can do it all, as he is a surgeon with the ball and can shred a defence with his throwing strength. Because of his ability to elude pressure in the pocket, if a play breaks down, he may take off like a running back and gain extra yards with his unofficial 4.5 speed.
