BREAKING NEWS: Texas Rangers Head Coach Issues Injury Updates from Surprise

Baseball season has finally begun! Pitchers and catchers, as well as much of the rest of the team, have begun to arrive at Surprise, Arizona, the 2023 World Series Champion Texas Rangers’ Spring Training facility.

General Manager Chris Young provided an update on the three injured starting pitchers during a recent interview in Arizona. He said that all three are progressing as predicted. Rangers ace Jacob deGrom started throwing this week, and his first day of catch “went great.”

His return is expected in August, but it all depends on how he progresses. Tyler Mahle, a newcomer, began throwing around six weeks ago, with a planned comeback date of July. Max Scherzer, who experienced a back injury during his final start of the 2023 season, has yet to pitch, but is anticipated to do so in the next weeks. Scherzer is expected to return to the mound in June.
Another injury report was provided on Saturday afternoon. Josh Jung had to leave the field after his first day of exercise due to calf pain. After an MRI, it was discovered that he suffered a calf strain and would be sidelined for two to three weeks as he recovers and the medical staff watched the issue. With any luck, he’ll be back in peak form by Opening Day on March 28th, 2024.

Our eyes will definitely be on the young Rangers as they hone their skills and make their debuts. As Spring Training progresses, this writer will be paying close attention.
