According to Vikings’ PA announcer Paul Allen, Sean Payton may have shared his thoughts on who the Denver Broncos should pursue. He claims a source informed him that Payton is ‘very enamoured’ with Michigan quarterback JJ McCarthy.
“There is just a little bit of steam that is beginning to emerge locally that Sean Payton loves JJ McCarthy,” Allen said. “Payton wants the next Drew Brees. So keep that in mind when you’re thinking 11, and if you’re thinking JJ McCarthy at 11, remember that behind you is the desperate Payton, who will practically beg, borrow, and steal to get exactly what he wants out of this draft in terms of quarterbacks. Over the weekend, a trustworthy source informed me that Payton is very interested in JJ McCarthy.
The Broncos had a disappointing 2023 season, and despite Sean Payton’s first season in Denver, the team is planning to make significant changes. The Broncos are poised to release veteran quarterback Russell Wilson. After two below-average seasons and a huge contract, the Broncos believe they’d be better off without him.
So, with Wilson on his way out, the Broncos are looking for a quarterback again. Many analysts anticipate the Broncos will select a franchise quarterback in the 2024 selection. However, no one is sure which quarterback they will choose.
