On Saturday, the Kentucky Wildcats will visit the Alabama Crimson Tide in Rupp Arena, hoping for another top-25 triumph. They could face a Tide club that is short-handed, with several important players missing the game.
First and foremost, we will discuss the guy who will be absent from Saturday’s game, Mohamed Wague, who was suspended by the SEC for excessive elbowing against Florida on Wednesday night.
So far this season, the junior forward is averaging 4.0 points per game on 64.8% shooting from the field. He also averages 2.8 rebounds and less than a block a game for the Tide.
Along with Wague, the Tide could be losing guard Latrell Wrightsell. Wrightsell, a Cal-State Fullerton transfer, missed the game against Florida earlier this week and is listed as “day-to-day” by head coach Nate Oats.
Wrightsell has started eight games for the Tide this season, including the last seven before to this week’s game against the Gators. He averages 9.0 points per game on 42.4% shooting, including 44.5% from three. He also averages 3.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists each game.
The Crimson Tide appear to be undermanned as they approach Lexington. This storyline may make it even more vital for the Kentucky team to win a game that is already highly critical.
This game is even more significant because Alabama now leads the SEC, so it could be exactly what Kentucky Basketball needs.
