Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace can be somewhat pleased with their start to the 2023–24 season as they currently sit in 10th place in the Premier League standings with a record of two wins, two draws, and two losses from their six games.
However, the official Premier League website reports that they have only scored six goals, which may be where their problems lie. In light of this, linkages with a Brazilian goal machine are very understandable.
With seven goals allowed, the Eagles are tied for the fourth-best defence in the English Premier League after Man City, Liverpool, and Chelsea. If Hodgson can find a striker who will score goals, the Eagles may soon be climbing the standings.
Palace and their rivals Fulham in west London are both interested in Flamengo star Gabriel Barbosa, better known as “Gabigol,” according to Fichajes (h/t The Hard Tackle).
The 27-year-old has previous European experience with Internazionale and Benfica, though it must be acknowledged that he didn’t exactly shine at either team.
According to Transfermarket, he only managed one goal per season while playing for them, and the Portuguese giants eventually sent him back to Santos, the team he had originally left to join Inter.
Although it’s unclear at this point whether the player would welcome any offers, Barbosa knows that if he wants to try to make it big in one of the top five leagues, it’s “now or never.”
