DEAL AGREED: 2-time Pro Bowl Running Back Reportedly Has Agreed to Joining Houston Texans in a Blockbuster Trade

Saquon Barkley, one of the top running backs on this year’s free agent market, is reportedly interested in joining the Houston Texans during the offseason.

The Houston Texans were without a doubt the most surprising team in the NFL last season. With a rookie quarterback and head coach leading the club, expectations were quite low, but they exceeded them by winning the AFC South with a record of 10-7. As a result of their accomplishment, the team’s projections for 2024 will be significantly higher.

While the franchise has never been known for handing out large contracts in free agency, the team has over $67 million in available cap space (according to OverTheCap) and could make some significant additions if they choose to. That is why they have been linked to numerous high-profile free agents in recent weeks.

However, in recent days, there have been some new interesting linkages between the Texans and two-time Pro Bowler Saquon Barkley, who has surprisingly followed quarterback CJ Stroud, receivers Nico Collins and Tank Dell, running back Devin Singletary, and tight end Brevin Jordan on social media.

Many athletes have done this and claim it is nothing more than following a player they admire. On Monday, KPRC 2 Houston Texans source Aaron Wilson suggested that the New York Giants running back is conducting some serious research on the organization before potentially entering NFL free agency.

“Saquon Barkley, it goes beyond him following guys on social media and hitting [the like button],” he remarked. “He has communicated with notable players, notably CJ Stroud, about his desire to play here. It’s mutual, but they’re leaving their options open for running back.”

The Giants have the option of putting Barkley on the franchise tag for a second year in a row, but all signals point to his leaving next month.
