GOOD NEWS: Browns GM Andrew Berry Sends Delightful Message to Brown Fans After Meeting With Notable Offensive Tackle Prospect

In 2023, the Cleveland Browns’ starters suffered a series of injuries.

Right tackle Jack Conklin and left tackle Jedrick Wills were among those who suffered serious injuries.

Conklin was the first victim in Week 1, suffering a ruptured MCL and ACL.

Wills damaged his MCL in Week 9 and was out for the remainder of the season.

These ailments are why Cleveland is looking for offensive line help at this week’s NFL Scouting Combine.

According to KPRC2 Houston sports reporter Aaron Wilson and the Faithful Dawgs Podcast on Twitter, the Browns spoke with University of Houston lineman Patrick Paul.

Massive University of Houston offensive tackle Patrick Paul has equally high NFL ambitions, 'dog mentality'

Paul was named to the first-team All-American Athletic Conference in 2021 after starting 14 games.

He won the honour again in 2022, leading the Cougars to their second consecutive bowl game.

Houston competed in the Big 12 this year, and Paul was named to the first team All-Conference.

NFL scouts admire Paul’s size and wingspan, which is more than seven feet.

Needless to say, this enables Paul to quickly reach opponents and knock them off balance, even when he is out of position.

He is also known for his rapid release off the ball, great lateral mobility, and strong finishing punch.

Talent evaluators point out that Paul needs to improve his foot speed, high pad level, recovery ability, and hand placement during blocks.

He’s rated as a Day 3 prospect but could surprise as a Day 2 candidate.

Cleveland may see Paul as a project, similar to what Dawand Jones was in 2023.
