Clemson defensive end Clelin Ferrell was reportedly overdrafted by Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock when he was selected fourth overall in the 2019 first round of the Las Vegas draft. Ferrell signed a one-year contract with the 49ers in early 2023, after four lacklustre years with the Raiders, averaging approximately two sacks per season.
He performed admirably as part of a rotation in San Francisco, playing 43% of defensive snaps. He is well-known to general manager Adam Peters and defensive line coach Darryl Tapp, both of whom came over from the 49ers.
