JUST IN: What’s the deal with Browns and Jameis Winston? Why Brown have not Announce Jameis Winston deal

So far this week, the Cleveland Browns have signed free agent running back Nyheim Hines, defensive tackle Quinton Jefferson, and linebacker Jordan Hicks. They also announced the extension of wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, who they recently acquired in a trade with the Denver Broncos. They’ve even announced the return of defensive lineman Maurice Hurst, Shelby Harris, and Za’Darius Smith, as well as return guy James Proche II.

The contract with quarterback Jameis Winston has not been publicized.

Browns: Grading the free agency signing of QB Jameis Winston
Cleveland allegedly agreed to terms with Winston on March 12, the day before free agency officially began. The contract was claimed to be worth $4 million, with incentives that could bring the total to $8.7 million.

However, we have yet to receive an official release from the team, which has recently made a flurry of announcements about free-agent acquisitions. Tyler Huntley, the former Baltimore Ravens backup quarterback, was among those who signed.

Is there an issue with the Browns’ Jameis Winston contract?

Including Huntley raised various questions. Some speculated that Deshaun Watson’s recovery from shoulder surgery was not progressing as expected. Others questioned whether there was a problem with Winston’s contract. A third theory suggested that Dorian Thompson-Robinson might not be a safe QB3.

There’s another possibility: the Browns always bring four quarterbacks to camp. It just so happens that they signed Huntley, who has a well-known name, to a veteran minimum deal.

It’s probable that’s the end of the tale, and the Browns and Winston have simply not been able to get together yet. However, the longer it takes to put ink to paper, the more questions will be raised.
