The Pittsburgh Steelers have created an intriguing quarterback position for the 2024 season.
They went on to sign future Hall of Fame quarterback Russell Wilson after his disastrous run with the Denver Broncos, but just as it appeared that they had solved their quarterback problems, they made another move.
Pittsburgh also traded for Justin Fields, prompting speculation that Fields may take over as starter if Wilson struggles enough.
Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez stated on Fox Sports 1’s “First Things First” that this setup could cause issues for the renowned team.
“When you have two forces in one quarterback room, you almost have none.” There can be only one quarterback. “Everything in the organization must be seen through the eyes of the starting quarterback,” Sanchez stated.
Wilson was moved to Denver two years ago after ten terrific seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, but he struggled in his debut season with the Broncos.
Last year, he put up good stats, but he wasn’t quite his usual self, and new head coach Sean Payton may have been disappointed with him.
Wilson is 35 years old, and one has to wonder how much he has left in the tank, which begs the question of whether Fields will eventually take his starting place away from him.
Fields, the No. 11 choice in the 2021 draft, has not lived up to expectations, and he has demonstrated that he is a poor passer, completing only 60.3 percent of his pass attempts in his first three seasons.
While some believe he may be a good quarterback in the right scenario, others believe he is simply not capable of doing so, which is one of the reasons the Bears released him.
