RETIREMENT ALERT: RED BULL Star Max Verstappen Provides a Fresh Update on His Retirement Amidst Talk As Hamilton-Schumacher Record Pursuit Questioned

Former Formula One driver Mark Blundell questions whether Max Verstappen would want to stay in the sport or “just walk away from it” at any given time.

Verstappen has stated on numerous occasions that he does not want to overstay his welcome at the highest level of motorsport, and that he has ambitions elsewhere, whether through endurance, GT racing, or his sim racing outfit.

Verstappen, who is now a three-time World Champion, has previously stated that he is not motivated by records, but a shot at matching Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher’s seven World titles may be feasible by the end of his current Red Bull deal, if he continues on his present trajectory.

Former McLaren and Tyrrell driver Blundell, who has already stated that he aims to achieve other goals in motorsport, wonders if Verstappen is the type of driver who would simply resign from Formula 1 “when he’s had enough” without concern for records or much else.

“Well, I believe he could be in the conversation we are currently having about Schumacher and Hamilton. When asked if Verstappen may be recognized as one of the best Formula One drivers of all time, Blundell said yes.

“Unless someone knocks them off their perch, I believe Red Bull and Verstappen as a combo will be difficult to beat, particularly over the next season or two.

“It surely has the potential to put a name in the history books among the top scorers. But I think Max is a fascinating character.

“He’s one of those individuals that you could easily picture doing something and then walking away, and that’s the end of it.

“I don’t view him right now as one of these individuals who will be in for the rest of his life.

“He doesn’t strike me as that guy; I could be mistaken, but it appears to me that he is all about getting what he needs to do and finishing the job at hand, and when he’s had enough, he’s done. We will wait and see.”

The Red Bull driver is leading the World Championship once again this season, having won the first two rounds in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
