Yacine Adli made his season debut against Cagliari on Wednesday, when Rafael Leao, Olivier Giroud, and Ismael Bennacer publicly praised him.
The French midfielder started as a deep-lying playmaker against the Rossoblu, replacing the injured Rade Krunic in the middle of the pitch.
He was replaced after 58 minutes, although the Frenchman was praised by Italian sports publications. Tuttosport and Il Corriere dello Sport graded him a 7/10, while La Gazzetta dello Spor gave him a 6/10.
Even from the looks on his teammates’ faces, his season debut for the Rossoneri was impressive. Bennacer, Leao, and Giroud all publicly thanked Adli via Instagram stories on his account.
“I am proud of you,” Giroud said in French; Bennacer added, “It’s your moment,” and Leao said of Adli’s performance, “Class.”
