DEAL AGREED: Saint Are Reportedly on The Verge of Signing Another NFL Best Player – The Former 49er Star is Expected to Be At Caesars Superdome Before Next Monday

The New Orleans Saints aren’t done with free agency.

This time, they are bringing back one of their own.

The Saints are expected to re-sign cornerback Shemar Jean-Charles, who played in the final three games for New Orleans last season after spending the first half with the San Francisco 49ers.

According to a person familiar with the matter, Jean-Charles’ deal is expected to be consummated Monday, when the Saints begin phase one of their offseason strength and conditioning program.

Last year, Jean-Charles spent most of his time on special teams, playing only seven defensive snaps for New Orleans. However, his return comes after the Saints lost cornerback Isaac Yiadom in free agency to the 49ers. Yiadom signed a one-year, $3 million contract.

Jean-Charles, 25, joins the league in 2021 after being picked in the fifth round by the Green Bay Packers. He spent two seasons with the Packers, participating in 20 games with no starts. He began last season with San Francisco and was waived in late November, prompting the Saints to sign him to their practice squad. On January 4, New Orleans signed him to the active roster.
