The Georgia Bulldogs have been college football’s best team for the past three seasons. Even a school that has won two consecutive National Championships loses players to the transfer portal, and the Bulldogs saw two players go through the new spring transfer portal, which opened on Monday.
Georgia witnessed Andrew Paul hit the portal earlier. On Monday afternoon, running back Andrew Paul entered the portal, but he was not the only Bulldog offensive player to do so.
Braxton Hicks Enters the Portal.
Wide receiver Braxton Lee Hicks went to the social media site X and posted a beautiful statement thanking Georgia and their fans, as well as announcing that he will be entering the transfer portal.
Hicks, a Georgia native, is in his junior season but has seldom seen the field since being on campus.
I’m assuming Hicks was waiting to see how spring practices went before entering the portal, and he probably realized his playing time would be limited and decided to join the portal.
The Spring Portal Is Different From The Winter Portal For SEC Players.
The spring portal differs from the winter portal, because once you enter the spring portal, you cannot switch to a new SEC team and begin playing immediately. You can play immediately and transfer to an SEC school during the winter portal, but after the spring portal opens, you cannot switch between SEC schools.
Hicks is most certainly leaving the SEC unless he wants to sit, but I’m guessing he goes to a smaller school where he can see the field, as that was never going to happen while wearing a Bulldogs jersey.
