GOOD NEWS: Saint NFL Draft Top Target Receives Great News As Deal Reportedly on the Verge of Completion

The New Orleans Saints require offensive and defensive line reinforcements. One top ten prospect has been mocked to them in both the first and second rounds by several sources. The Saints went to his Pro Day on Tuesday.

Illinois DL Johnny Newton appears to be fully healthy heading into the draft.
Newton’s injury has made some people nervous about his potential, but his athleticism and strength rank among the best in the class. Prior to the injury news, he was largely projected to be a top fifteen choice.

He might now glide right into the middle of round two.

New Orleans needs more defensive line depth, particularly inside, after adding pass rusher Chase Young. Bryan Bresee showed promise last season but remains a work in progress overall.

Khalen Saunders is a solid senior presence, but he lacks the pass-rushing abilities of Newton or Bresee. The Saints must put more pressure on passes in 2024.

If they go that route early in this year’s draft, Newton or a talent like Byron Young would assist right away.
