Jonah Jackson has spent all four NFL seasons with the Detroit Lions. However, the former Ohio State offensive lineman is on the move in free agency, which began Monday.

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Jackson has agreed to terms with the Los Angeles Rams. According to Garafolo, Jackson signed a three-year contract worth $51 million, with $34 million guaranteed.

The Lions selected Jackson in the third round (75th overall) in the 2020 NFL Draft. Jackson rapidly established himself as an important member of Detroit’s offensive line, starting as a rookie and appearing in nearly every game throughout his NFL career. Jackson was nominated to the Pro Bowl in 2022 and helped the Lions make their first NFL playoff appearance since 2016 last season.

Jackson, a native of Media, Pennsylvania, was a two-year starter at Rutgers, where he played guard and centre. Jackson started six games at centre for Rutgers in 2017. The next year, he started all 12 games at guard for the Scarlet Knights and was selected honourable mention All-Big Ten by the coaches and media for his efforts. With Jackson on the offensive line, Rutgers was second in the Big Ten and 19th nationally in sacks allowed per game. In addition to his performance, Jackson was selected captain in his last year at Rutgers.

Jackson joined the Buckeyes as a graduate transfer during the 2019 offseason. He chose the Scarlet and Grey over offers from Oklahoma and Texas, and it was critical for Ohio State to complete up the offensive line in 2019.

The former Scarlet Knights athlete enrolled at Ohio State in June and was the team’s starting left guard when the season began in the autumn. He was a member of one of the top offensive line groups in the country, paving the door for running back J.K. Dobbins’ record-breaking season and keeping Heisman Trophy finalist Justin Fields upright for the majority of the year.

In Los Angeles, Jackson may reunite with former Scarlet and Grey partner Jordan Fuller. Fuller has been the Rams’ starting safety since his rookie year, but he is also a free agency this offseason. According to reports, LA will likely allow Fuller to enter the open market.
