BRUTAL WARNING: Twins’ Manager Rocco Baldelli Issues a Strong Brutal Warning To Players ’: ‘Whoever’s Touching it is in Deep Trouble.’

In a 162-game MLB regular season, there’s plenty of room for unusual events to occur. These include unusual rally and home run customs. One of the most recent is from the Minnesota Twins, who toss a “HR sausage” to players who score home runs. The Twins’ local broadcast crew on Bally Sports North posed a question about it during a recent news conference with manager Rocco Baldelli, and they received an interesting response, as shown in their broadcast of the Twins’ game against the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday:
“It’s a summer tangy sausage; I looked at the package yesterday. It’s giving us a lot of hits and runs, so I’m happy for it. For those who haven’t been following, it’s a large wrapped sausage that [catcher Ryan] Jeffers has been carrying about in his bag and throwing at people after we score runs or hit home runs. So I am all for it.

“I’m mildly anxious because, while I’m not an adult, I’m more of an adult than some of the other people in the room, that the gift will open. And the item hasn’t been refrigerated in several days. And there’s little doubt that when that thing opens, whoever touches it is in big peril. There’s no doubt in my view that we’re carrying something very, extremely unhealthy for the human body.”

That is one of the funniest responses you will hear from a team member during a team rally routine. And “I’m not even an adult, but slightly concerned as an adult” is an excellent disclaimer. This was also a fantastic tweet from the Twins’ social media staff (who, it should be mentioned, went through quite the ordeal to claim Twins.com), putting it out there without really approving it. However, we feel horrible that a wonderful summer zesty sausage could go to waste.
