RAIDER BREAKING NEWS: Las Vegas Raiders add 3-time Pro Bowler to help offense

The Las Vegas Raiders have made significant improvements this offseason. The team has made considerable investments on both sides of the ball, and it will begin the 2024 NFL season with a few new stars. Improving the offensive line has been a focus for the Raiders this summer, and they’ve just signed another veteran who might contend for starting jobs.
According to NFL Insider Ian Rapaport, the Las Vegas Raiders have signed former Saint Andrus Peat. He played 12 games for the Saints last season.

Peat spent the most of his nine-year career at left guard. However, he played the majority of his snaps at left tackle in 2023. His versatility might be beneficial to a Raiders club that requires consistent depth at all levels of the offensive line. Peat might potentially contend for starting snaps on the left side of the offensive line.

Peat was a former first-round pick. The Saints took him with the 13th overall choice in the 2015 NFL Draft. He was chosen to three consecutive Pro Bowls from 2018 to 2020 despite not playing more than 13 games in any season.

This offseason, the Raiders made significant investments in improving their offensive line. The Raiders signed centre Andre James and guard Cody Whitehair in free agency. In the 2024 NFL Draft, Las Vegas selected Jackson Powers-Johnson, a talented interior lineman, and Delmar Glaze, a guard.

The Las Vegas Raiders’ starting offensive line in 2024 might include Kolton Miller, Dylan Parham, Andre James, Jackson Powers-Johnson, and Thayer Munford Jr., with Andrus Peat, Cody Whitehair, and others coming off the bench.

Expectations for the 2024 Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders are hopeful that these expenditures will help them jump over the hump by 2024.

Las Vegas ended the 2023 NFL season with an 8-9 record, missing the playoffs. The Raiders experienced a rough season in 2023. The squad began the season with head coach Josh McDaniels and starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. McDaniels was fired on November 1st, and Garoppolo appeared in only 7 games.

This cleared the way for interim head coach Antonio Pierce, who received a new deal this offseason. Pierce and rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell took advantage of a difficult scenario down the stretch, helping the Raiders end the 2023 season with five wins in their last nine games. O’Connell and free agency addition Gardner Minshew will fight for quarterback snaps this season.

The AFC West is a difficult league, but the Raiders might make some noise this season. The Broncos will start rookie Bo Nix, while the Chargers are in a major transition time under new head coach Jim Harbaugh. The Chiefs remain as dominant as ever, but the Raiders will split with them in 2023.

Raiders supporters have plenty of reasons to be optimistic. Their offensive line has greatly improved, and significant additions such as rookie tight end Brock Bowers and defensive tackle Christian Wilkins provide much-needed star power to the team.

Sportsbooks do not have great hopes for the Raiders, maybe due to the question marks at quarterback. Several sportsbooks list the Raiders’ current over/under win total for 2024 as 6.5 victories.
