DEAL AGREED: Miami Football Are Reportedly On The Verge of Signing a Perfect Replacement For 2025 OT Lamar Williams After De-Commit

The Miami football team should be in good shape on the offensive line, with official visits commencing at the end of the month after three-star tackle Lamar Williams decommitted on Thursday. Williams’ decommitment was apparently amicable between him and Miami.

Williams is Florida’s 509th ranked prospect, 40th offensive tackle, and 70th recruit from Havana Gadsden County. Miami hosted Williams in late January. Williams made a promise on February 2 and followed up roughly a week later. Williams was the sole offensive lineman committed to Miami in the 2025 class before his decommitment.

According to Williams’ 247Sports profile, Florida and Florida State are the only other institutions that have welcomed him on unofficial visits. Houston is the new favourite for Williams, with a 56.2 percent chance of committing, according to his On3 profile. According to On3, Williams will make an official visit to Houston on the weekend of June 21.

According to Gaby Urrutia of Inside the U, Houston, Tulane, and West Virginia all extended offers to Williams during the winter contact period. Miami has decided to host eight OL between the weekend of May 31 and June 21. Miami is hosting five interior offensive linemen and three tackles throughout that time.
Centre Zach Carpenter, the only OL in the projected 2024 rotation, is in his final season of eligibility. Jalen Rivers, a fifth-year redshirt junior entering the 2024 season, appears to be a prime candidate for the 2025 NFL Draft. Francis Mauigoa, the right tackle, is likely to leave after the 2025 season.

In addition to Mauigoa and Rivers, Miami has junior Markel Bell and redshirt freshman Samson Okunlola at offensive tackle. Anez Cooper, a returning starter at junior right guard, is also eligible for the 2025 NFL Draft. Cooper’s performance throughout the 2024 season will impact his decision for 2025.
Four-star interior OL. Cortez Smith is the only blue-chip recruit among the eight offensive linemen that Miami is hosting. Georgia is Smith’s heavy favourite, with a 94.5 percent likelihood of committing, according to On3. Late May, however, will be a pivotal month for Miami’s OL in the 2025 class.
