HUGE REACTION: NFL and Lion Brutal Reactions to Detroit Lions $212M, 4-Year Extension For Key Experienced QB

Following the 2021 season, the Detroit Lions acquired Jared Goff from the Los Angeles Rams. At first, it was unclear if they considered him as a temporary replacement or a potential great quarterback.

Three years later, it’s clear that Goff has established himself as a valuable member of the Lions’ roster, and they’re paying him accordingly.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Lions and Goff have agreed to a four-year agreement worth $212 million, with $170 million guaranteed.

With this contract, Goff becomes the highest-paid player in Lions history and the second-highest-paid athlete in the NFL, earning $53 million annually.

It’s reasonable to say that Goff deserves the contract.

Goff struggled in his first year in Detroit, but he went on to play spectacularly, transforming the Lions into a formidable NFC opponent. In the last two seasons, he has thrown 59 touchdown passes and only 19 interceptions. Last year, the Lions finished 12-5, won their division, and advanced to the conference championship game.
