JUST IN: Saints HC Dennis Allen Went Down In Tears Before losing 3-time Pro Bowler

The major transactions in NFL free agency have come and gone. However, a recent signing has had a significant impact on the New Orleans Saints. Andrus Peat, a veteran offensive lineman, decided to sign with the Las Vegas Raiders. Did New Orleans try to bring him back?

The Saints attempted to re-sign Andrus Peat, according to GM Mickey Loomis.
Rather than returning to New Orleans, Peat decided to join the Las Vegas Raiders. His contract specifics with LV are not yet available.

Regardless, he declined to return after the Saints discussed it with him. Peat was rotated through various positions on the OL while in New Orleans. The majority of his reps came at guard, although you could argue that he was most consistent this season at offensive tackle. Expect him to start at tackle for the Raiders next season.
Since they missed out on Peat, there is additional pressure on OT Trevor Penning to compete for a starting position.

Ryan Ramczyk’s status is unknown, and rookie offensive tackle Taliese Fuaga might play left or right tackle once the season begins. The OT depth chart will become clearer as more information on Ramczyk is available.

Regardless, Peat’s death is a significant loss for New Orleans. He improved last season and was mainly healthy, starting twelve games. We can debate the validity of Pro Bowl voting, but Peat did make the event three times during his stint with the Saints.

We’ll see if the Saints add any further veteran depth to their offensive line. Lucas Patrick is the most recent addition to the inside.
