JUST IN: Saint Head Coach Has Reveal A Fan-Favorite QB Will Return to Play The Saints in 2024 And Could Be Starting

Jameis Winston has been a fan favourite in New Orleans since signing with the Saints in 2020. He may not have grown into the Saints’ ideal starting quarterback, but he was an excellent backup who was electrifying in the locker room. Many fans and media members rejoiced when he was given his chances.

This offseason, however, Winston signed a one-year deal with the Cleveland Browns. The Saints are scheduled to meet the Browns at home in Week 11. This sets up Jameis Winston’s return. Although he is not the starter right now, here are some reasons why he may be.

Deshaun Watson, the Browns’ current starting quarterback, was acquired in a trade in 2022. Watson hasn’t been the same player since returning to the Houston Texans. His inability to stay on the field has limited his performance in Cleveland. Due to suspensions and injuries, he has only participated in 12 games over the last two years.

Last year, Watson suffered a season-ending injury in Week 10. Although the Browns expect him to be ready for the season opening, there is no assurance that he will be able to stay healthy throughout the season. This is how Jameis Winston might receive his opportunities.

Although the Saints would have welcomed Winston back to New Orleans, going elsewhere may have been a better option. He did have some opportunities while in the Big Easy. He has had a whirlwind of a career, dealing with injuries and little playing time over the last few years.

Cleveland offered Winston something he couldn’t refuse: possible playing time. In his mind, he is still a quarterback capable of leading his team to the Super Bowl. Whether or not that’s true, Winston gets the opportunity to show himself in a new setting this year. The Saints may have an opportunity to see it up close and personal when he returns in Week 11.
