JUST IN: Miami Football Are Reportedly Leading The Race to Recruit 4-star LB In His Top Six.

The Miami football program is among the top six contenders for four-star linebacker Gavin Nix. On Sunday, Nix announced his top six teams: Florida State, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, and Stanford. Since Nix announced his top six on Sunday, expectations about who is the most likely to commit have shifted.

Florida, which did not make Nix’s top six, is the 28.5 percent favourite to land the four-star linebacker’s commitment. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine ranks Florida State second at 22.2%, Miami third at 16.7%, and Oregon fourth at 6.1%. Stanford replaced Florida and Texas A&M on Nix’s original list of candidates.

There are no 247Sports Crystal Balls recorded for Nix. Nix’s first formal visit to Miami is scheduled during the weekend of June 7. Nix will visit Oregon on the weekend of June 14 and Florida State commencing June 21. All 13 Power Conference programs have received unofficial visits from Nix.

Florida tops all programs with Nix’s nine unofficial visits. Miami is second with seven unofficial visits, while Florida State is third with six from the IMG Academy standout. Auburn, Central Florida, and Notre Dame are the only other programs that have received two visits each.

Nix told Keegan Pope of On3 that he like the Miami coaching staff’s stability, is impressed with their vision, and wants to learn more about the Hurricanes. Next weekend will be a crucial one for Nix’s recruitment in Miami. Miami is hosting two LBs on the weekend of June 7.

Notre Dame Makes A Big Impression On Standout 2025 Linebacker Gavin Nix
In addition to Nix, Miami will host four-star linebacker Jadon Perlotte this weekend. Perlotte has been committed to Georgia since December 2022, but is leaning towards Florida State. Elijah Melendez, a four-star LB, is the lone defensive player currently in Miami’s 2025 recruiting class.
