WORRYING UPDATE: TWIN Manager Rocco Baldelli Issues a Worrying And Concerning Injury Update on Twin Most Valued and Fans Favourite

Top Minnesota Twins prospect Emmanuel Rodriguez has been playing out of his mind this season, which is even more impressive given how much time he has already missed.

Rodriguez has only played 37 games but has a.298/.479/.621 batting line and a 1.100 OPS. He was selected Minor League Player of the Month in April. The unpleasant caveat to E-Rod’s praise is that he is doing all of these incredible things in spurts; he missed time at the end of April and began June wounded as well.

Rodriguez is once again suffering with an injury and will have to miss more time, thus delaying what has been a tremendous season of progress.

Emmanuel Rodriguez’s injury update since missing Wednesday’s game
It didn’t take long for Rodriguez to face another setback due to an injury. On Wednesday, his first game back, he seemed to jam his hand while sliding into second base.

On Friday, the Wind Surge placed Rodriguez on the 7-day injured list. The last thing anyone wants is for these injuries to continue to stymie E-Rod’s season, so he’ll most likely miss a bit more than seven days to allow for the most rest possible.
All of Rodriguez’s terrible luck with injuries has been a cloud that has partially obscured the sunshine of the season. He’s performed so well that he jumped over 40 spots to No. 13 on Baseball America’s most recent Top 100 prospects list, and he currently ranks as the No. 31 overall prospect on MLB Pipeline.

Fans even speculated that Rodriguez may make the jump from Double-A to the MLB roster as a replacement for Manuel Margot, something we discussed a few weeks ago with great enthusiasm. That’s been the yo-yo nature of his season, with every good thing followed by an injury.

Rodriguez’s suspension is unfortunate, especially given the Twins’ propensity of injuring young players. He’s demonstrated so much promise and upside that there’s still too much to be enthused about to let another setback ruin the mood.
