Joe Gibbs Racing is going through a similar metamorphosis as Hendrick Motorsports a few years ago. Joe Gibbs Racing announced on Tuesday that Chase Briscoe will replace Martin Truex Jr. in the No. 19 Cup car beginning in 2025. It’s a sign of change as Joe Gibbs Racing replaces Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon with younger drivers, as Hendrick Motorsports did a few years ago.

Kyle Larson, the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion, is one of these new drivers. Larson evaluated Joe Gibbs Racing’s new lineup for NASCAR.com, comparing it to the current setup at Hendrick Motorsports.

“sure, sure, yeah, no, it’s [a strong, young basis for the future at Joe Gibbs Racing]. “And then you’ve got one old guy [Denny Hamlin] who’s probably leaving in a few years, so yeah,” Larson said. “I think they have a terrific lineup, for sure. “I believe Hendrick Motorsports has the strongest lineup for the future.”We’re all in our late 20s or early 30s. William Byron is in his mid-twenties. Yes, there have been many wins and titles. So, sure, it’s nice to see where the sport is right now.”

Larson is confident in Hendrick Motorsports’ driver lineup, and properly so. The NASCAR organization has won two championships in the last four years, and William Byron was particularly successful in 2023. Joe Gibbs Racing has a promising lineup for the future, and their battle with Hendrick Motorsports will be exciting to watch.
