AC Milan has won 18 points out of a possible 21 in the league thus far, but has struggled in the Champions League with only two points in two games. In any event, as Luca Serafini points out, the ongoing witchhunt is harmful.
The fans were extremely dissatisfied after the 0-0 draw against Dortmund, just as they were after the derby and the Newcastle draw. Many players, notably Davide Calabria, Olivier Giroud, and Samuel Chukwueze, have been chastised.
Luca Serafini, a pundit for MilanNews, spoke extensively about the constant witchhunt that Milan fans are on in his newest editorial. Instead of offering assistance in a difficult circumstance (with injuries and a tight schedule), they seek scapegoats.
Serafini believes that this mentality is harmful, and the case of Yacine Adli is an excellent example of why. Instead of applauding his success, people are attempting to pin it on one of the parties involved.
“As for Adli, I’m still trying in vain to explain that he was clearly not ready for the rhythm and system, until he decided to question himself and change, freeing his mind and making available the talent for which – don’t forget – Milan signed him three years ago.” Why the blame and justifications? He adapted, and Pioli credited him for it. “Why are we still on one side or the other after finally discovering such a valuable resource?” he wrote.
