HUGE RESPONSE: The Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins on Trading Blue Jay Most Experienced and Fans Favourite Star After Blockbuster Trade Offer From Houston Astros

The burning hot After their worst start in a decade, the Houston Astros are in contention to win the American League West. The Astros’ emergence as a dynasty is hardly surprising, as this team has demonstrated year after year that they will be a power.

Even in difficult circumstances, they have always found a way to respond. That has happened again in 2024, and it appears that this is only the beginning of something great in Houston.

They’ll want to enhance their team this month during the trade deadline, especially if they keep playing like this. The most rumoured target has been Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s Offensive Decline Has Been Greatly Exaggerated

Guerrero would be an ideal fit for the Astros, who might use help at first base. Not only would he play that job, but he’s also considered one of the finest in baseball when he’s on his game.

With the Toronto Blue Jays 16.0 games out of first place in the American League East and 8.5 games behind for the third Wild Card slot, there is no excuse not to sell. Perhaps Guerrero isn’t in the mix because of the type of player he is, as the face of their club.

However, trading Guerrero would result in a large haul for the Blue Jays, which may pique the interest of their executive staff.

The right-handed slugger has heard the rumours, but he has made it clear that he does not want to be traded, according to TSN’s Scott Mitchell.

“Man, I do not want to leave. I want to stay here for the rest of my life. “But this is business.”

He’s a free agent in 2026 and wants to get paid, but he knows his time is coming and isn’t concerned.

“My time will come.” I’m not sure when it’ll happen, but it will.

Both of these comments indicate that he does not want to leave Toronto, which is understandable. The city is lovely, and the Blue Jays have the pieces to be successful if he remains for the next decade and the front staff makes moves around him.

At the end of the day, he recognizes that this is a business, so if he’s moved, it doesn’t sound like he’s unwilling to do everything it takes to win with his new team.

Houston may need the assistance, as this move could push them over the top. With less than a month till the deadline, it’s absolutely worth keeping an eye on.
