BIG BLOW: Broncos Have Officially Confirmed The Departure of Key Experienced Star Who is Heading to AFC Contender

The 2024 NFL training camps for all 32 teams begin soon. The Denver Broncos will begin their camp with the rookies, who will report to the facilities on Wednesday, July 17. The veterans will report six days later, on Tuesday, July 23. Good experienced free agents are available, including Denver’s top safety Justin Simmons, who was released before free agency began.

Simmons, a two-time Pro Bowler and four-time Second-Team All-Pro with the Denver Broncos, could find a new team soon, as he stays at the top of the list of eligible free agents entering training camps. Despite being a top-tier safety, there are three major reasons why he is unsigned.

First, Justin is 30 (he will turn 31 in November). Teams may prioritize younger prospects for the safety position. Second, Simmons could be demanding a large salary, and teams may wait until training camps to assess their position room before making an offer to him. Third, Simmons may wait until the completion of training camp before deciding to join the finest team available.

Despite being unsigned, Clifton Brown, a Ravens staff writer, said that Baltimore could be Justin’s new squad. Then Neal Driscoll, the Dolphins podcast host, acknowledged that Baltimore has also been mentioned as a possible destination for the former Broncos safety. Baltimore lost Geno Stone in free agency and lacks depth at the position alongside Kyle Hamilton and Marcus Williams, putting them in a strong position to acquire Simmons.
A Justin Simmons-Kyle Hamilton duo, with Marcus Williams as a backup for both, would be an entertaining safety group to watch. San Francisco, the New York Giants, and the Detroit Lions might also be candidates.

Simmons is unlikely to return to Denver, as he may choose to join a title contender with more opportunities to win a Super Bowl ring as soon as possible, such as the Baltimore Ravens, before putting up his cleats. The Broncos may offer Simmons a one-day contract, allowing him to retire in orange and blue someday.

Simmons was a great player for the Denver Broncos both on and off the field, and it would be exciting to see him win a Super Bowl while also becoming a vital member of his new team shortly, whether it is Baltimore or any other team that is not named Chiefs, Raiders, or Chargers.
