During the July 8 episode of the “Door Bumper Clear” podcast, the team discussed the highlight reel action between the two drivers, and co-host TJ Majors, who also spots for Brad Keselowski, provided his perspective on the situation.
“He was making him overdrive the corners on purpose,” Majors claimed SVG did to Larson. “There is no doubt that Larson possesses exceptional potential. You watch SVG in the car, and he’s missing almost every bend. You know Shane is back there, probably smiling and waiting. Do you understand what I mean? “Really entertaining to watch.”
The Dirty Mo Media account released a video of Majors and Bubba Wallace’s spotter, Freddie Kraft, speaking on X. Larson spoke especially to the No. 6 spotter.
“That cool shirt must have froze some of your brain cells @Tjmajors,” the Hendrick Motorsports driver posted, alongside a GIF of Jimmy Fallon performing a mimic backhand.
Larson was alluding to Majors’ nice shirt, which he wore on the spotters’ stand during the Nashville race weekend on June 30.

Larson displaying his personality and providing a clever reaction contradicts the idea of some fans that HMS drivers are quiet and uninteresting. For those paying attention, this is nothing new for Larson.
Before the June 23 New Hampshire race, the No. 5 pilot couldn’t help but respond when his longtime dirt rival and fellow Cup competitor Christopher Bell slipped up during a press conference and inadvertently confirmed the already well-known rumour that Chase Briscoe would be driving for Joe Gibbs Racing in 2025 — despite the fact that the No. 20 driver only mentioned “Chase” before catching himself.
“This news has really taken me by surprise, man! “Wishing @chaseelliott all the best on his new adventure at @JoeGibbsRacing,” Larson wrote on X. “I appreciated having you as a teammate! “Good Luck, #d19.”
Larson couldn’t contain his delight when questioned about the amusing tweet at a media availability in New Hampshire.
“I was really proud of it,” he remarked, smiling. “I was typing so quickly, I couldn’t wait to get it out. I texted Bell and Briscoe before tweeting that I was [expletive] dying.”
Larson frequently displays a sense of humour.
Larson’s amusing take on Bell’s statements before New Hampshire drew a lot of attention, but it was only a taste of the HMS driver’s previous comedic moments.
On July 2, he responded to a post on X that depicted Ty Gibbs winning a fiercely contested Xfinity Series race at Road America in 2022.
“I appreciate @TyGibbs showing me around his school. Highly recommended. “5.0,” he wrote, with five stars.
He then responded to another tweet about HMS teammate William Byron racing for bragging rights in an upcoming CARS Tour event, which Larson competed in a year ago and finished eighth.
“The bar was set very low,” Larson explained. “It wouldn’t be anything to brag about.”
NASCAR has asked its drivers to showcase their personality. Kyle Larson has been doing it a lot lately, and fans — including those who don’t usually cheer for him — love it. Or at least they should.
