The good news is that the MLB trade deadline gives an excellent opportunity for the Yankees to improve their roster. Unfortunately, they only have until July 30 to meet MLB’s deadline.
As is customary, the Yankees have been linked to some of the biggest names on the market, but, like the rest of the league, actually executing a trade has proven far more challenging. Nonetheless, front office executive Brian Cashman keeps making calls.
The New York Yankees have doubts about Jazz Chisholm’s fit.
The New York Yankees have been linked to versatile Miami Marlins All-Star Jazz Chisholm, who can play both infield and outfield. However, like with most deals, the situation is not so straightforward.
According to ESPN MLB expert Jorge Castillo, the Yankees have expressed interest in Chisholm, but the team is concerned about his distinct attitude and how it would fit into the clubhouse.
“Miami Marlins centre fielder Jazz Chisholm, who began his career as a second baseman, would give the Yankees some pop, but the organization has concerns about how his personality would fit inside the clubhouse, according to a league source.” – ESPN’s Jorge Castillo on the New York Yankees’ Jazz Chisholm fears.
While the Marlins are not going away this season, Chisholm’s trade is not a sure thing. He is under team control for the next two seasons before becoming eligible for free agency in 2027. This reduces Miami’s eagerness to locate a trade partner.
However, all it takes is one compelling offer to persuade Miami otherwise, and the Yankees appear to have the resources to pull it off.
