GOOD NEWS: Manchester willing to sell sell £31m player despite contract decision to AC Milan

Manchester United are planning to extend defender Victor Lindelof’s contract due to increased interest from Italy.

Over the summer, United brought in only one center, and it was not a well-known name.

Jonny Evans arrived on a free transfer, providing depth at the back despite concerns about Raphael Varane’s injury record.

This season, the Frenchman has done nothing to alleviate those fears, and Harry Maguire’s future remains uncertain.

Add in an injury to Lisandro Martinez, and United’s center back ranks have been anything but stable in recent years.

That could be why United are now attempting to sign another center back amid speculation over his future…

Manchester United is interested in extending Victor Lindelof’s contract.
According to the Daily Star, United will extend Victor Lindelof’s contract until the summer of 2025.

United have supposedly chosen to exercise the one-year option included in the Swede’s contract.

Lindelof’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the season, but United are now looking to extend it.

However, with a £15 million asking price on Lindelof’s head, United may still decide to cash in.

Juventus and AC Milan are said to be interested in signing Lindelof, but United are attempting to protect themselves by activating this contract provision.
We are still expecting changes to the United back line in 2024, with Lindelof perhaps on the chopping block.

Lindelof was signed from Benfica for about £31 million in 2017, and while he hasn’t lived up to expectations, he has been a reliable squad player over the last six years.

Lindelof has started five Premier League games and both Champions League games this season, proving trustworthy when others have struggled.

Nonetheless, according to The Manchester Evening News, United would like to add another athletic defender to compete with Varane next season.

That might be a replacement for Maguire, but there is still a significant possibility that United could want to sell both Maguire and Lindelof in order to bring in a pair of fresh – hopefully durable – center backs.
