COMMITMENT DATE SET: Auburn Football May Have The Next Lamar Jackson Committing Soon

Lamar Jackson was one of the most spectacular quarterbacks in college football history, and his success has carried over to the NFL, where he was named MVP for the 2023 season. Jackson earned the Heisman Trophy for the Louisville Cardinals in 2016.

Jackson’s dual threat skill was what set him apart in college and continues to be in the NFL. In his Heisman season of 2016, Jackson threw for 3,543 yards and 30 touchdowns. He rushed for an additional 1,571 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Former Virginia Tech quarterback Michael Vick even compared Jackson to himself, claiming that he was better than Jackson when they were in college.

While Vick and Jackson were in their own leagues and we believed we’d never see a quarterback like that again, four-star 2025 high school recruit Deuce Knight has been catching our attention.

Where will Deuce Knight play college football?

Knight committed to Notre Dame and head coach Marcus Freeman in September 2023, but is rumoured to be switching to the Auburn Tigers. With Tigers head coach Hugh Freeze’s recent recruiting success, this should come as no surprise, as Freeze has pushed the Tigers to the sixth ranked class in the country for 2025, according to On3.

The Tigers’ main missing component for their class appears to be a quarterback, and Knight would fill that role.

What were Deuce Knight’s high school statistics?

Knight has started for George County High School in Lucedale, Mississippi, since his sophomore year and will play his final one as a senior in 2024. During his first two seasons, Knight threw for 3,536 yards and 26 touchdowns. He has run for an additional 832 yards and 22 touchdowns.
While it is high school and not college, Jackson and Knight’s numbers and styles of play are strikingly comparable and would be electrifying to watch in the SEC if Knight did transfer to the Tigers.
