Stags are still unbeaten after 12 League Two games as Nigel Clough’s team aim for automatic promotion.
Radford also commended the One Call Stadium’s football style in an interview with BBC Radio Nottingham’s Matchday.
“It’s been an excellent start to the season,” he told reporters. “We’ve been unlucky with injuries, but the way Nigel has set up the team is entertaining to watch.”
“Our defence is quite strong this season, we just need to get a few more goals.”The way the side grows from the back is what makes it so appealing. Our possession is excellent, and some of our goals have been spectacular, coming from all over the field.
I’m hoping that this will be our year. The team is carrying out the tasks I assigned to them at the start of the year. Nigel understands that we want to finish in the top three and do not want to travel to Wembley.We can’t complain about the style of football we’re playing right now; it’s thrilling and entertaining to watch.
“We know there will be bumps along the way, which is why football is so exciting, but I’d like to finish in the top three.”
“We have started well and have sound foundations, hopefully that continues.”
This season, the Stags have been bolstered by large home crowds, with all-ticket matches becoming the norm.
Radford has been ecstatic to see so many bums on seats at every home game.
“The Mansfield fans are here, the fans are strong and loyal,” he went on to say. “It’s a big thank you to them for coming to the games and keeping the stadium full.”
“We’re averaging well over 7,000 fans per game now, and ten years ago, there were only 2,000 fans in here.”
“It is a fantastic response form the Mansfield public and the Mansfield fans around the world.”
During the interview, Carolyn Radford, the club’s wife and partner owner, revealed that the club was still planning to develop the decrepit Bishop Street stand.
“We need to do something about the Bishop Street stand,” she explained, “but the problem is that there are a lot of infrastructure issues, so we are hoping that the council will be easy to work with for access and things like that.”
“It’s not just a matter of opening your pocketbook and erecting a stand. Hopefully, the town will cooperate with us so that we can create something safe and amazing.”
