Bradford City are looking for a new manager so early in the 2019 League Two season.
Mark Hughes was fired as Bantams manager just a few months after bringing the team to the play-offs last season.
The Welshman has only overseen 13 points from 11 games, leaving the team in the bottom part of the fourth division rankings.
He previously led the team to sixth place, but their promotion aspirations were dashed when they were eliminated in the semi-finals by Carlisle United.
What is the most recent information about Bradford City’s manager search?
With Hughes no longer at the helm, Bradford will be looking for a replacement.
Here we look at the most recent news about the club.
Following Hughes’ resignation, Bradford was said to be considering Neil Redfearn and Steve Thompson as potential candidates.
According to the Telegraph & Argus, neither coach is regarded as a significant potential arrival.
It is thought that the rumours around the two is unfounded, and that the League Two club is not considering hiring them.
During his playing career, Redfearn spent time with Bradford City, where he scored 21 goals in their first season in the Premier League.
McDonald’s decision
Following Hughes’ dismissal, Kevin McDonald was named acting manager.
The 34-year-old is a player-caretaker who witnessed the weekend’s 1-0 triumph against Swindon.
While it is uncertain whether he has a chance to keep the job permanently, he acknowledged his joy at getting the club back on track.
“It was a good day for everyone involved,” McDonald remarked, according to Offaly Live.
“A much-needed day, especially at home.”
“We got three points, which is what we set out to do, and we did it well.”
“We nicked the ball a few times in good areas.”
“If we’d had better quality in the final third, we could have scored other goals.”
hostile assertion
In the run-up to last weekend’s encounter between the two clubs, Swindon Town manager Michael Flynn addressed the situation surrounding Hughes.
Flynn is familiar with the Bantams, having played for them from 2009 to 2012.
He admitted that Hughes’ demise seemed unavoidable given the club’s current state.
“First and foremost, I am sorry to see Mark lose his job,” Flynn stated, according to the Telegraph & Argus.
“Bradford is a club I am very familiar with and have a lot of feelings and respect for; it is a great club with great people.”
“I believe the timing will bring them closer together in the crowd, as it was becoming hostile towards the end for Mark.”
“I would say that expectations are high there, and you would expect to kick on after making the playoffs last season.”
“For whatever reason, they haven’t done that yet.”
“I am not going to comment on that because I don’t know the ins and outs.”
