The Atlanta Falcons have elevated cornerback Kevin King from practice for the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the team said. King will step in to aid with special teams and cornerback depth after veteran Antonio Hamilton Sr. sustained a groin injury late in the week. Hamilton was ruled out on the game status report, thus King will serve as both a gunner and the team’s No. 5 cornerback.

King, the Green Bay Packers’ 33rd choice in the 2017 NFL Draft out of Washington, is now on the Falcons’ practice squad after re-signing after spending the whole summer with the team. He was out for the whole 2023 season due to a torn Achilles tendon sustained during preseason training.
He has not played in an NFL game since 2021, missing the 2022 season to heal from a number of nagging injuries. So, although this will be King’s first game in nearly three years, he has worked hard to get here.
He spent the first five seasons of his career with the Packers before moving on, but the Falcons are his first team since then, since he never signed another deal after opting to miss the full 2022 season to recover from injury.
