According to NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero, the Miami Dolphins signed quarterback Tyler “Snoop” Huntley from the Baltimore Ravens practice squad on Monday. Huntley, 26, has spent the previous four seasons with Baltimore and was named to one Pro Bowl in 2022.
The dual-threat quarterback is slated to sit behind backup quarterback Skylar Thompson in the Dolphins’ Week 3 away game against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, though Huntley “could be a factor” in coming weeks. The Dolphins also have Tim Boyle on their practice squad.
Huntley notably took over for an injured Lamar Jackson in the 2022-23 season, going 2-2 in four starts and throwing for 658 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions. He also started in the Ravens’ wild-card round playoff defeat to the Cincinnati Bengals that season, almost helping Baltimore pull off an unexpected victory.
Huntley is the newest addition to Miami’s 53-man roster following Tua Tagovailoa’s latest concussion, which occurred in Week 2’s 31-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Tagovailoa, who has a history of head injuries in the NFL, is still in the concussion protocol this week.
