OFFICIALLY DONE AND CONFIRMED: Detroit Lions Have Officially Sign Former MVP WR To 53-Man Roster and Have Also Add LB to Practice Squad – Details Below

The Detroit Lions announced two roster alterations on Thursday, ahead of Week 4’s first official practice. First, veteran wide receiver Allen Robinson was added to the active roster, while linebacker Abraham Beauplan was assigned to the practice squad.

After placing Derrick Barnes and Marcus Davenport on injured reserve and signing wide receiver Tim Patrick earlier this week, the Lions still had an available place on their roster, which Robinson will now fill.

Giants bolster offense by signing veteran receiver Allen Robinson

Robinson was signed to the Lions’ practice squad following cutdowns as the team sought extra depth at wide receiver, specifically a man capable of playing in the WR-X role. Robinson was promoted off the practice squad for the Lions’ Week 3 game against the Cardinals, however he only played one snap.
The entire receiver group got fewer snaps than in prior weeks, but there are games on the schedule that require a deeper receiver group. Robinson, an 11-year veteran, is a consistent presence on and off the field, a willing and effective run blocker, and someone the Lions have been keeping an eye on for a while.

“Allen Robinson, he was a guy that we wanted to add in free agency a couple of years ago.” After Detroit signed Robinson to the practice squad, Lions general manager Brad Holmes said the following. “Obviously, a Detroit native, but that’s not why he’s here; he’s another person who can step in and we know he can play. So the focus right now is on getting them adjusted. We’ll just have to watch how quickly it happens. We’ll see if it’s one week, two weeks, or three weeks, but it’s reassuring to know that it’s guys with genuine stripes on the wall. They’re good character individuals who are well-liked, so we know they’ll fit in with the culture; the question is how soon they can adjust.”

Vikings sign ILB Abraham Beauplan to the practice squad

Beauplan joined the Lions in the middle of training camp and played well in the preseason. He was regarded as a potential practice squad candidate, but after the Lions maintained seven linebackers on their active roster, they allocated places to other positions. some Barnes on injured reserve, Beauplan returns to the roster as a practice squad member to provide the team some depth.
