Maxx Crosby and the Las Vegas Raiders (2-4) suffered another blowout on Sunday, losing 32-13 at home to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Crosby helped limit Steelers quarterback Justin Fields to 204 total yards, but Pittsburgh’s rushing offence, paced by Najee Harris and Justin Fields, was eventually too much to handle.
The 27-year-old Pro Bowl edge rusher concluded the Week 6 game with three tackles (two for loss), three quarterback hits, and 0.5 sacks. During the game, CBS cameras showed Crosby shoving Raiders linebackers coach/run game coordinator Mike Caldwell in the chest with two hands as he moved toward the bench. The punch sent the 53-year-old coach back a few feet.
However, following the game, Crosby moved to social media to downplay the event, calling it as a “love push.” “Mike Caldwell is my guy.” One of the best in the business.
That’s a love push; stop reaching. “#RN4L,” Crosby wrote on X to his over 186,000 followers. Caldwell, a former NFL linebacker, joins head coach Antonio Pierce’s staff this offseason after spending two seasons as the defensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Now 2-4 on the season, the Raiders will travel to SoFi Stadium to face the Los Angeles Rams in Week 7, followed by a divisional game against the rival Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8. Crosby has 5.5 sacks through six games, which is close to his career high of 14.5 last season.
