DEAL OFFICIALLY CONFIRMED AND SEALED: Raiders Have Officially Sign Arizona Cardinals QB From Practice Squad To Address Quarterback Crisis Following Aidan O’Connell’s Injury

The Las Vegas Raiders have made a huge move by signing quarterback Desmond Ridder off the Arizona Cardinals’ practice squad. This decision follows an injury sustained by their starting quarterback, Aidan O’Connell, during a recent loss to the Los Angeles Rams. O’Connell injured his thumb on his right hand, which is likely to keep him out for four to six weeks, presenting an urgent need for the Raiders to strengthen their quarterback lineup.

Desmond Ridder, formerly of the Atlanta Falcons, joins the Raiders with an 8-9 record in 19 career games. During his stint as a starter, he threw for 3,544 yards and completed 64% of his passes, with 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. His experience and track record could be critical as the Raiders attempt to continue their offensive momentum in O’Connell’s absence.
The Raiders now have a 2-5 record this season, and their quarterback position has been especially difficult. Gardner Minshew, who was benched in favour of O’Connell, has struggled on the field, tying for the league lead with 10 giveaways. His dismal performance against the Rams, where he threw three interceptions and lost a fumble, exacerbated the team’s quarterback dilemma.

Ridder, 25, was drafted in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, becoming one of nine quarterbacks chosen that year. He has a link to Raiders receiver Tre Tucker, as they were college teammates at the University of Cincinnati. This move, first reported by NFL Network, could provide the Raiders with a much-needed lift as they attempt to turn their season around in the coming weeks.
